Holiday Pet Bandana Tutorial

Get your furry friends ready for the holiday season with this simple and oh-so-cute felt bandana! With a touch of ric rac, a glittery accent, and a satin bow, this easy DIY makes your pet the most stylish guest at any festive gathering.

You will need:

One 12x12" square piece of felt (of your choice)

Ric Rac Ribbon

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Optional: A small piece of satin ribbon for a bow accent (or whatever you choose to decorate with!)

🐾 Step 1: Shape Your Bandana

Start by folding your 12x12" felt square in half diagonally to form a triangle. Press along the fold to create a crease, then unfold the piece.

🧵 Step 2: Create the Collar Pocket

Flip the felt so the inside is facing up in a diamond shape. Fold both of the middle edges inward about an inch, then fold it again to form a neat pocket—this will be the space for your pet’s collar to slide through. Secure the edges of the folds with hot glue along the sides only, leaving the pocket open across the top.

💕 Step 3: Glue It Together

With your pocket finished, refold your felt back into a triangle. Apply a thin line of hot glue along the edges to seal it, creating your finished bandana shape.

🎀 Step 4: Add Your Ribbon Trim

Now for the fun part! Hot glue your ric rac ribbon along the edges of the outside of the bandana for a festive, textured trim!

Step 5: Decorate!

Hot glue whatever you chose to decorate with, and voila! We used a 10" piece of satin ribbon to make a small bow with, and a glitter letter die cut!

🐶 Ready to Wear!

Once the glue is dry, slide your pet’s collar through the top pocket and let them strut their holiday style! Perfect for Christmas card photos, holiday parties, or just a cozy night in by the tree.
