Pom-Pom Bow Gift Wrap Tutorial
Looking for a way to make your gifts feel extra special? This sheer ribbon pom-pom bow is your new go-to! Light, fluffy, and full of volume, it adds that perfect “wow” moment on any wrapped gift...without the need for fancy tools or complicated steps!
This easy bow style works beautifully with chiffon, organza, or soft wired ribbon, creating a delicate puff that looks like it came straight from a boutique. ✨
You Will Need:
Sheer Ribbon (we used 1")
Scissors
Gift Box/Wrapped Present
Optional: twist tie or floral wire (to secure before tying on box)
🎀 Step 1: Create Your Loops
Start by looping your sheer ribbon back and forth about 8 times, forming even loops roughly 2 inches long.
Keep your loops stacked neatly, if possible. This helps with fluffing later!
You’ll end up with a compact, layered stack of ribbon loops.
✂️ Step 2: Score the Center
Hold your loop stack together and find the middle. Then, with scissors, make two small cuts on each side of the center, just halfway through the ribbon stack.
Be careful not to cut all the way through! This scoring step gives your ribbon a pinch point that helps it fan out perfectly later.
Step 3: Attach It to Your Gift Box
Use the slack from your wrapping ribbon (or a separate piece of ribbon or twine) to tie around the scored center, pulling tight to secure it.
If you’re wrapping a gift, tie it directly onto the box so the pom-pom sits right on top!
🎁 Step 4: Fluff It Out!
Now for the fun part! Gently separate and fluff each loop, pulling them out in all directions to create a full, rounded shape.
The sheer ribbon gives it a soft, airy texture, but it is fragile! Take care not to pull too hard.
If you used wired ribbon, bend and curve the loops for extra dimension.
Styling Idea💡: Layer two ribbons together (like sheer and satin) for a multi-textured pom-pom!
💚 And Done!
This pom-pom bow looks fancy, but takes just minutes to make. It’s the perfect way to turn a simple wrapped gift into something that feels personal, handmade, and totally pin-worthy!
